Field Hockey closes a weekend in Kentucky

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Falcons finished a weekend filled with field hockey on Sunday with a game at Centre. CUW fell to 0-2 on the season with a 4-2 loss at Centre on Sunday. On Saturday, the Blue and White recorded a 2-2-1 record at the SAA-NCAC 7vs7 Tournament in exhibition play.

The Colonels capitalized early with a goal 74 seconds into play. Centre added two more goals in the third quarter.

Junior Megan McPike (Mequon, Wis.) put the Falcons on the scoreboard off a pass from sophomore Lorri Pitock (Naperville, Ill.) in the 47th minute.

The Falcons landed the last punch of the day with a goal from sophomore Donna Pitock (Naperville, Ill.), with freshman Renee Lund (Vista, Calif.) adding the assist.

Junior Katelyn Fitzgerald (Wood River, Ill.) and sophomore Emily Binley (Suffolk, Va.) both finished with five saves.

Centre held a 22-3 shots advantage on Sunday. Freshman Caroline Slick (Spotsylvania, Va.) had the other Concordia shot on Sunday.

The two goals against Centre ties the most against Centre in program history.

The Saturday action was highlighted by a pair of 3-1 victories over Rhodes and Transylvania. CUW also earned a 1-1 tie against Centre.

Caroline Slick secured the lone goal in the 1-1 tie at Centre on Saturday.

Against Transylvania, freshman Sophia Vandeloecht (Kirkwood, Mo.), Lorri Pitock and sophomore Alex Klamm (Glen Carbon, Ill.) all found the back of the net.

The Falcons were finally able to catch the Lynx of Rhodes on Saturday in a 3-1 victory. Megan McPike blasted in a shot on a penalty stroke, Donna Pitock threw in a shot from Sophia Vandelocht and Caroline Slick secured a goal off a pass from Donna Pitock. Sophomore AnnaLyssia Abela had a defensive save in a game where both goalies stood tall.

CUW closes the season on Sunday against Lindenwood.
