Denison defeats Field Hockey Saturday

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Denison University scored four times in the second half to extend what was a one-goal halftime lead, defeating the Concordia University Wisconsin Field Hockey team Saturday morning. The Falcons were playing their second game in as many days, making the trip from New York last night after a setback against Houghton.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Big Red broke a scoreless tie in the 15th minute as Lucy Pearsall struck for the sixth time this season. The Falcons were able to keep within one for the remainder of the first half, thanks to eight first-half saves from freshman Kennedy Boyer (Saline, Mich.)

- Denison broke the game open in the second half, scoring four times for the 5-0 win. Charlotte Happel had two of the four goals for the Big Red.

- Boyer finished with 15 saves for the Falcons, as CUW was outshot 27-3 in the contest. All three of the Falcons shots came in the second half, one each from Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.), Sam Dunn (Sussex, Wis.) and Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.).

- Ellen Westfall had three saves for Denison in picking up the win.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will conclude a three-match weekend with a contest against Eastern Mennonite Sunday. The game will be played at Denison. Eastern Mennonite played Denison Friday night and also lost by 5-0 count.
