Support the CUW COVID-19 relief charity stream on Saturday

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin's Esports program will be gaming for 12-consecutive hours on Saturday from 12 pm to 12 am in an effort to raise funds for the Saukville Community Food Pantry to help in the relief efforts of COVID-19. As the coronavirus pandemic continues many people have been laid off from work and are in need of assistance.

The Saukville Community Food Pantry's intent is to meet the needs of any citizen of Ozaukee County that had a food shortage in their home or for emergency food needs. The pantry opened its doors in January 2012 and has since expanded to provide school supplies, backpacks and shoes to hundreds of children in Ozaukee County so they can attend school with the necessary items. In 2015, The Saukville Community Food Pantry began a new program along with the cooperation of Feeding America offering a Mobile Food Pantry twice a year where Feeding America provides a truck full of fresh foods, dry goods and frozen foods for those in need.

"We want to show our support for the local community by giving back in any way we can," head coach Lewis Smith said. "This is just a small way to use our platform and raise as much money as possible for those around us that need support during these difficult times with the COVID-19 pandemic."

Concordia Wisconsin's Esports program will stream via its twitch account (https://www.twitch.tv/cuwesports) and hopes the community will support those in need by donating via the twitch streaming page.

The Falcons will be playing the following games over the 12 hour period:
12-4 pm: League of Legends
4-6 pm: Rocket League
6-8 pm: Overwatch
8-10:30 pm: Call of Duty
10:30 pm-until end: League of Legends

Concordia Wisconsin's Esports program launched months ago and now features nearly 100 student-athletes on its teams. Click here to read a recent article about the Falcons' females who are gaming or click here for a Fox6 story about Esports ability to continue to play during these difficult times.
