Baseball returns to action with weekend doubleheaders, hosts Wisconsin Lutheran on Sunday

- After a week of practice, Concordia University
Wisconsin's baseball team is ready to return to action when they
travel to Edgewood College on Saturday before hosting Wisconsin
Lutheran College on Sunday. The weekend doubleheader series are
Northern Athletics Conference contests for the Falcons.

The Falcons finished their RussMatt Greater Phoenix Invitational
spring break trip to Chandler and Mesa, Ariz., with a pair of
victories. CUW earned a come-from-behind win, 7-6, over William
Paterson University prior to defeating Johns Hopkins University,
7-5.
Offensively, senior Adam Martz (West Bend, Wis.) has been swinging
a hot bat to start the year. The 6-foot outfielder is batting .500
(16-for-32), to go along with team-highs in runs (10) and RBI (7).
In addition, senior Nick Doedens (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore
Matthew Scasny (Pewaukee, Wis.) have recorded double-digit hits.
Martz and Scasny are ranked first and second, respectively, in the
NAC in batting average.
On the mound, senior Matt Parrent (Kewaskum, Wis.) leads the
pitching staff with 15.0 innings pitched and 16 strikeouts. Scasny
leads the Falcons with a 1.86 ERA in 9.2 innings on the bump.
EC (3-9, 0-0 NAC) dropped the last three contests during its trip
to Auburndale, Fla. Ryan O'Dell leads four Eagles with
double-figure hits, while Zach Creekmore is hitting .406. On the
mound, Miles Mayer has thrown 16.0 innings and is tied with Trevor
Koehn with 13 strikeouts.
WLC (2-11, 0-0 NAC) dropped its last two contests and nine of its
last 10 games. The Warriors have allowed double-digit runs in six
games this season.
Garrick Day leads WLC with 10 hits and 11 runs scored, whereas Cody
Nevils and Doug Martin each have a team-high-tying 14 hits. Jaime
Paumen tossed the team's only complete game, while Alex Raver has
fanned 14 batters.
