Thunder Rumble Away With the Win

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics and tumbling team moved to 1-1 on the young season with a 219.500 – 237.725 loss to Trine on Sunday afternoon.

"Today was another great learning opportunity for the team said head coach Sarah Koenig," There are a lot of positives to take away from today and we are excited to learn from today to help us grow as the season progresses.

The Falcons opened the day with 31.05 points in the compulsory event. They posted 9.30 points in the toss heat and had a season-high score in the tumbling heat.

Concordia continued with 20.90 points in the acro event.

The Birds bounced back with season-high scores in all three pyramid heats with 26.30 points and 9.70 points in the open pyramid with senior Paityn Taormina (Geneva, Ill.), junior Madisen Arendt (Waukesha, Wis.), senior Haleigh Komprood (Janesville, Wis.), senior Eliana Schmit (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.)

The Falcons took a bit out of Trine's lead with 25.85 points in the toss event. CUW had season-high scores of 8.15 points in the 450 salto and 8.70 points in the synchronized toss. Concordia also finished with 9.00 points in the open toss.

CUW collected 44.450 points in the tumbling event on Sunday. The Blue and White posted season-high scores in the duo pass at 6.70 points with Eliana Schmit and Madisen Arendt, 7.150 points in the quad pass with Paityn Taormina, junior Alexis Pfeifle (Macomb, Mich.), Ainslee Taylor and junior Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.), 7.950 points in the six-element pass with 7.950 points with Ellen Marie Sanders and 8.875 points in the open pass with Paityn Taormina.

Concordia closed the day with 70.95 points in the team event for a season-high score.

The Falcons return to action in South Dakota at Augustana on Feb. 26.
