Records Fall on Friday at the NCATA D3 Tournament Semifinals

BELTON, Texas – The Concordia Wisconsin acrobatics & tumbling team competed in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association Division III Tournament Semifinals on Friday night. The top-seeded Cru' of Mary-Hardin Baylor advanced to the finals with a 265.845 to 240.815 score. The Falcons broke two school records on Friday in the semifinals.

The Falcons opened the day with 31.450 points in the compulsory event. The high-water mark for Concordia came in the pyramid heat with 9.150 points.

The Blue and White added 23.900 points in the acro event. The six-element heat with junior Paityn Taormina (Geneva, Ill.), senior Jessi Alexander (Plainfield, Ill.), freshman Ainslee Taylor (Alto, Mich.), sophomore Alexis Pfeifle (Macomb, Mich.), junior Amanda Owens (Stevens Point, Wis.), sophomore Madisen Arendt (Waukesha, Wis.) and junior Eliana Schmit (Germantown, Wis.) scored 8.550 points.

Concordia shined in the pyramid event with 28.05 points. CUW scored nine or more points in all three heats, including a 9.65 in the open pyramid with Paityn Taormina, Jessi Alexander, junior Haleigh Komprood (Janesville, Wis.), junior Eliana Schmit (Germantown, Wis.) and sophomore Ellen Marie Sanders (Joppa, Md.).

The Falcons soared in the toss event with 26.70 points. They started with a program-record 9.70 points in the 450 salto heat with Paityn Taormina, Eliana Schmit, Jessi Alexander, Ellen Marie Sanders and Amanda Owens.

The Blue and White added an additional 47.575 points in the tumbling event. Paityn Taormina and Ellen Marie Sanders broke the school record in the duo pass at 8.450 points. Jessi Alexander notched a season-high score of 8.475 points in the aerial pass.

Concordia closed the night with 83.14 points in the team event.

Mary-Hardin Baylor will take on Trine in the finals on Saturday night. The Falcons won the first title in 2022, with a victory over Adrian.

The Falcons close the season on Saturday morning in the NCATA Division III Tournament Event Finals.
