Falcons Fall in First Outdoor Matchup

MEQUON, Wis. - The CUW women's tennis team took on Carthage in their first outdoor matchup of the Spring season.

The Firebirds dominated the outing with a 7-2 score.

At No. 1 doubles, the duo of senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and junior Mallory Moen (Neenah, Wis.) fell by a score of 2-8.

No. 2 doubles saw sophomores Cheyanne Phillips (Morris, Ill.) and Mya Werning (Watertown, Wis.) finish with a score of 3-8.

The final doubles team of senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and sophomore Peyton Morgan (Arlington Heights, Ill.) finished with a score of 3-8.

The Firebirds lead 3-0 heading into singles.

No. 1 singles saw Budewitz fall by scores of 3-6 and 2-6.

Moen competed in No. 2 singles and took one of two Falcon points with scores of 7-5 and 6-1.

Phillips was the occupant of No. 3 singles and took home the 6-4 and 6-3 victories.

Andrae fell by scores of 1-6 and 1-6 at No. 4 singles and Morgan finished with scores of 3-6 and 4-6 at No. 5 singles.

Junior Auden Pearson (Kaukauna, Wis.) finished No. 6 singles with scores of 2-6 and 2-6.

The Blue and White turn their attention toward the NACC Tournament on April 28.
