Women’s Tennis topples Lakeland
KOHLER, Wis. – The CUW women's tennis team continued to roll on Wednesday night at Lakeland. The Falcons reeled in the Muskies for an 8-1 victory to improve to 10-1 and 8-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Sophomore Jennifer Mies (Brookfield, Wis.) and sophomore Elizabeth Johnson (Hubertus, Wis.) got the ball rolling with an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 1 doubles, freshman Julia Vitale (Elm Grove, Wis.) and sophomore Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) won, 8-1.
Freshman Alaina Hazelberg (Mayville, Wis.) and freshman Heidea Vaudt (Rockford, Ill.) closed doubles competition with an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Freshman Antonina Sanna (Clinton Township, Mich.) secured a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles over Kallie Hoeft.
Senior Rebekah Spiegelhoff (Mount Pleasant, Wis.) bounced Abby Juozapaitis at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2.
Lakeland earned their lone point of the day at No. 1 singles.
Sophomore Ashley Saniter (Beaver Dam, Wis.) downed Annie Adams at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Alaina Hazelberg closed the day with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Jessica Leicht at No. 5 singles.
Heidea Vaudt won by default at No. 6 singles.
The Falcons will travel to Edgewood on Saturday to fight the Eagles for the NACC crown.
