Antonina Sanna snags NACC Student-Athlete of the Week title

MEQUON, Wis.  – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference announced its student-athletes of the week on Tuesday morning and Antonina Sanna was named the NACC Student-Athlete of the Week in women's tennis.

A freshman from Clinton Township, Michigan, Sanna is claiming the honor for the first time in her career.

Sanna became the first Falcon to win a draw at the Gustavus Fall Invite in program history with a perfect 4-0 record in Draw No. 8. She claimed victories over competitors from Saint Mary's (Minn.), Carroll (Wis.) and Wisconsin-Eau Claire to advance to the finals.

In the finals, she rallied from behind to defeat Emma Barnd of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 3-6, 6-3, 10-2.

She also competed in the doubles tournament with sophomore Ashley Saniter (Beaver Dam, Wis.)

In singles play, Antonina Sanna has posted a record of 8-2 on the year.

Sanna and the Falcons return to play on Tuesday against NACC-rival Marian.
