Pitch Pass: NACC opener up next for Women's Soccer

MEQUON, Wis. – After a challenging five-match non-conference stretch to begin the season, the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer team is ready to begin NACC play this week. The Falcons will host two NACC matches over the next week, the first Wednesday afternoon against Marian.

THE BASICS
- Who: Marian (3-3-0) vs. Concordia Wisconsin (1-2-2)
- Where: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wisconsin
- When: Wednesday, September 20 (4:00 p.m.)

DIGITAL PROGRAM
- The digital program for Wednesday's match can be found here. A limited number of printed programs will be available at the entrance Wednesday for $2. Fans can also access the digital program at the match by going to cuwfalcons.com/programs on their mobile devices.

PITCH PASS
- The Falcons had a strong last week, posting a 1-0-1 record. CUW started the week by tying No. 8 UW-Whitewater in the home opener. CUW followed that by going on the road and winning, 2-1, against Lake Forest. Anna Knueppel scored the game-winner against the Foresters, which also marked her first career collegiate goal.

- Senior Tabitha Ortiz has been on top of her game at goalkeeper for the Falcons. Through five matches, Ortiz already has 40 saves and an impressive .833 save percentage. She stopped eight shots in each match last week.

- The Falcons are 8-3 in conference openers since joining the NACC in 2006. CUW lost its first three conference openers in that span but has since won eight straight. They have outscored their opponents, 54-1 in the eight straight NACC-opening wins.

- CUW scored two early goals to defeat Marian, 2-1 last season. Kayla Schlosser tallied the game-winner in the 19th minute.
