Wrestling splits duals at Border Brawls

WHITEWATER, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin began its day with a convincing win over Harper, 27-5, before No. 12 UW-Whitewater ended any energy the Falcons had with a 40-5 victory on Saturday afternoon inside the Williams Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons took three of the first four weight classes by forfeit, prior to sophomore Eric Martinson (Milwaukee, Wis.) capturing a win by fall in 5:16 at 165 pounds. Senior Mason Mergener (Crivitz, Wis.) followed with a victory in 1:11 at 184 pounds.
- Junior Mitchell Slatton (Granger, Ind.) continued the momentum with a victory by pin in 1:34 at 184 pounds, while senior Mason Baumgartner (Slinger, Wis.) took just 19 seconds to earn a win by fall at 197 pounds. Senior John Hinson (Glendale, Ariz.) capped off the match with a 3-2 decision win.
- Things against the 12th-ranked Warhawks were a much different story, as Baumgartner was the only Falcon to get his hand raised after a commanding 18-1 technical fall win.
