Women's Hockey comes up empty handed in final home contest

MEQUON, Wis. -- The final home game for the two Falcon seniors was not how they envisioned ending the the last home game of their career. Concordia University Wisconson fell to No. 10 Adrian College, 2-0, in National Collegiate Hockey Association play Saturday afternoon at the Ozaukee Ice Center.

Senior defensemen Carly Piras (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and Sara Cole (Plymouth, Minn.) were honored this afternoon for all of their hard work and dedication during their four-year tenure as a Falcon. Their leadership and guidance will be missed by this year's young squad.

Throughout the duration of the first frame, CUW (4-15-3, 4-11-2 NCHA) implemented an aggressive, yet poised style of play, against the Bulldogs, holding them to six shots on goal with zero goals scored. Things began to unravel quickly as the second stanza began though.

AC (17-5-1, 12-5-1 NCHA) matched the game plan of the Falcons, notching their first goal early in the second frame on a shot from NCHA point leader Kelsey Kusch. Kusch now stands at 27 points scored in conference play. Shortly after their initial goal the Bulldogs built upon their lead on a goal scored by Courtney Millar with 10:38 left to play in the frame.

For the series, AC amassed 10 goals on 48 shots while CUW managed to only tally one goal on 49 shots. The Falcons have been outscored 21-3 their past two NCHA series.

CUW will travel to Lake Forest College next week Tuesday to take on the Foresters. The puck is set to drop 7 p.m.
