Pauletti's late goal not enough as Women's Hockey falls at St. Catherine

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Katherine Pauletti scored a power-play goal with 20 seconds to play in Saturday's non-conference matchup, but it was too late as Concordia University Wisconsin lost 2-1 at St. Catherine University.

The Falcons outshot the Wildcats, 35-24, at Drake Arena and converted the game's only power-play success, however, a two-goal second period deficit proved too much. SCU (8-5-0) scored a pair of even-strength markersjust  over 11 minutes apart to earn the victory.

Sophomore Jennifer DeGeorge (Waukesha, Wis.) recorded 22 saves, while Wildcats' goalkeeper Alex Hall made 34 saves.

Former Falcon student-athlete Bailey Rasmussen scored the game's opening tally less than three minutes into the second period, with Megan Killmer and Katie Jirik assisting.

SCU increased its lead to 2-0 after Laurel Prodahl scored the game-winner with less than five minutes to play in the second set of 20 minutes. Zoe Verkerke and Randi Fabsits were credited with assists on the tally.

Following a Wildcats holding penalty and a Falcons timeout, Pauletti (freshman, Roseville, Wis.) found the back of the net with 20 seconds left on the clock in the final stanza. Senior Sara Cole (Plymouth, Wis.) and sophomore Emily Heckendorf (Merrill, Wis.) were each credited with an assist.

CUW (2-11-2) completes its three-game, four-day road trip on Sunday at Hamline University. The puck will drop at 2 p.m.
