Falcons Fly Past the Foresters 

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team recorded its first victory of the young season on Saturday afternoon at the Lake Forest Tipoff Tournament. The Falcons topped the host Foresters, 62-42, to improve to 1-1 on the year.  

The Falcons took an early lead with a pair of three-point baskets from Liliana Guerra and Ava Booth to give the Falcons the lead.  

A three-point basket from senior Liliana Guerra (Yorkville, Ill.) gave the Falcons the lead at 9-6 and they did not allow the Foresters to take it back the rest of the day.  

Senior Erin Viergutz (Clintonville, Wis.) made a layup and gave the Falcons a 19-10 lead after the first quarter.  

The Foresters chiseled the CUW lead to seven points after in the second quarter, but the Falcons earned a pair of free throws from Erin Viergutz to give the Falcons a 27-18 lead at halftime.  

The Falcons soared in the third quarter with 20 points. Sophomore Ava Booth (Plymouth, Wis.) feasted on the Foresters with eight points, two rebounds and a block in the third quarter. 

When the dust settled, CUW led 47-27 heading into the fourth quarter.  

The largest lead of the day came at 62-38 when junior Abby Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) drained a pair of free throws.  

Erin Viergutz finished with a game-high 16 points in the victory and had seven rebounds.  

Ava Booth also had seven rebounds and 11 points. 

The Falcons dished out 17 assists in the victory and were led by Liliana Guerra with four.  

The Falcons will return to action on Wednesday when they open the home portion of the schedule against North Central.
