Falcons Open 2023 at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Falcon men's Track and Field team competed at the Carthage Firebird Opener on Saturday.

As a team, the Falcons took fifth place with a score of 23.5 points, while host school Carthage College claimed first. 

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Josh Peterson (Palatine, Ill.) placed 12th with a time of 57.48.

Next, in the 800-meter, sophomore Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) placed 12th with a time of 2:21.87, while freshman Avery Horwath (Greenwood, Wis.) placed 14th with a time of 2:24.86.

In the 1-mile run, sophomore Dominic Willadson (Sheboygan, Wis.) placed 11th with a time of 4:53.27.

Sophomore Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.67 seconds, earning the Falcons five points.

In the 4x400 meter relay, CUW's team placed fifth with a time of 3:57.16, a group that includes freshman Mason Kinney (Red Bud, Ill.), freshman Nick Taylor (West Bend, Wis.), sophomore Matthew Torres (Von Ormy, Texas) and senior Dane Tischendorf (Antigo, Wis.)

Senior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) placed 14th in the long jump and posted a distance of 5.48 meters. He also placed sixth in the long jump with 11.84 meters.

Meanwhile, senior Mitch Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) placed eighth in the shot put with 12.22 meters, while senior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) placed tenth with 11.97 meters.

Mitchell Moeller placed second in the weight throw with a throw of 14.91 meters, earning the Falcons eight points. Meanwhile, in the same event, Seth Day placed 10th with 11.32, while senior Theo Ryder (Denver, Colo.) and freshman John Kutner (Muskego, Wis.) placed 13th and 14th.

The men's team looks forward from here to their competition at UW-White Whitewater at Karl Schlender Invitation slated for Jan. 21.
