Diaz' overtime heroics lift Men's Soccer past St. Mary's

MEQUON, Wis. – Sophomore Dagoberto Diaz scored with 3:04 left in overtime on an incredible bicycle kick goal, lifting the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Soccer team past St. Mary's Sunday at Fitting Field.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 2, St. Mary's 1 (OT)
- Location: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wis.
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 4-0-0; St. Mary's 3-2-0

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Diaz (Woodburn, Ore.) had the incredible bicycle kick (see video below) to lift the Falcons to the win. It was his second career OT game-winner, the other coming last season against Lawrence.

- The match got to overtime because of a late score from the Cardinals with under two minutes to go. In a crowded box, Chris Beiersdorf was able to find the ball and get it past the Falcons keeper, making the score 1-1.

- For the second straight day, CUW was tied 0-0 at the half, as junior Luis Loya (Bolingbrook, Ill.) struck just under 10 minutes into the second half for the first goal of the contest. Loya's, who also assisted on Diaz's score, goal was assisted by senior Jordan Moehn (Fond du Lac, Wis.).

- Freshman Nate Yeager (Rio Rancho, N.M.) got the win against for CUW as he and junior Killian Mielotz (Grafton, Wis.) continue to rotate halves at goalkeeper. Neither goaltender had a save, as the Falcons controlled possession, allowing just one shot on goal for the match.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- CUW has now won four straight overtime matches dating back to last season. The Falcons had an 0-14-12 record in their previous 26 overtime matches prior to this current streak.
