Big scoring run propels Falcons to MLC victory

MEQUON, Wis. -- It took almost 13 minutes for Concordia Wisconsin to settle down on Saturday afternoon, but when they did the play on both sides of the ball was something to watch. The Falcons put together an 8-0 scoring run that lasted two-plus quarters during a dominating 11-5 MLC victory over Benedictine at Fitting Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Benedictine came out as the aggressors on a beautiful afternoon, scoring a pair of goals within a minute of each other to lead 2-0 with 6:50 to play in the opening quarter. After that, it was all Concordia Wisconsin for over two-quarters of play as the scoreboard would read 8-2 with 11:30 to play in the game.
- During the scoring run that lasted 35 minutes and 47 seconds, the Falcons offense fired 21 shots and had 11 on goal. As well, during that stretch of strong play junior Alex Loding (Mundelein, Ill.) made seven saves in goal and his defensive teammates caused four turnovers.
- With the scoreboard reading an 8-2 lead for the hosts, the Falcons and Eagles each scored three goals each down the stretch.
- Concordia Wisconsin moved the ball well, clearing 23-of-27 attempts and forcing 15 turnovers.
- Senior Taitum Priewe (Janesville, Wis.) had a game-high four goals, while senior Warner Marquez (Danville, Calif.) had a hat trick. Junior Connor Peterson (Calgary, Alberta) scored twice. Junior Ryan LeFebvre (Chicago, Ill.) and junior Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) each scored once and had a pair of assists.
- Loding ended his day with 13 saves during the win. Freshman Jack Gromosky (Danville, Ind.) was one of four Falcons with at least three ground balls.
- Benedictine was led by Anthony Leahy who had a hat trick.
