MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons and the Cougars fought until the bitter end on Saturday evening. The Falcons secured three points in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference race with a 1-0 victory. The Falcons now have 22 points with a 7-1-1 record in conference place and are 10-4-1 on the year.

The Falcons had their foot on the gas pedal early on Saturday with senior Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.), senior Bella Rapp (Grafton, Wis.), and senior Sheridan Dorge (Winnipeg, Manitoba) all with shots in the first five minutes.

Tempers flared as the half grew, but the teams went into halfway tied at zero.

Senior Brooke Braga (Belgium, Wis.) opened the second half with a save in the 49th minute.

Each team built some quality opportunities, but the Falcons finally broke through in the 80th minute.

Freshman Jacey Read (Carbondale, Colo.) celebrated her birthday with a goal from outside the box as she broke to the left and curved the ball into the back of the net.

The Falcons held a 26-3 advantage in shots on Saturday. Sabrina Moore and Jacey Read both had four shots in the victory.

Brooke Braga had one save in the victory.

Saturday was the sixth shutout of the season for the Concordia defense.

The Falcons will rest up with Alverno not fielding a team in 2024 resulting in Wednesday's match being canceled, CUW will travel to Dominican on Saturday.
