Falcons Fall in Four Sets to MSOE

MEQUON, Wis. – On Friday night against MSOE, Concordia University Wisconsin men's volleyball celebrated senior Lucas Beres, who etched his name in the program's record books by breaking the single-season solo blocks record. With his 16th solo block in the fourth set, Beres surpassed his own previous record of 15 blocks set during the 2022-23 season.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, the celebration was bittersweet as they fell in four sets, dropping their overall record to 4-12 and their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) record to 2-3.

The match got off to a sluggish start for CUW in the first set, with MSOE quickly taking control and securing a 25-18 victory.

However, the Falcons bounced back in the second set, battling hard to earn a 25-23 win. CUW surged to an 18-9 lead, but MSOE mounted a comeback. Despite this, the Falcons held firm, with senior Kellen Gonzales (Milwaukee, Wis.) leading the charge, contributing five kills in the set.

The third set proved to be the most competitive of the night, featuring eight ties and three lead changes. Both teams exchanged points in a tight contest, but with the set tied at 12-12, MSOE gradually built a 23-18 lead and held off the Falcons, winning 25-21 to take a 2-1 advantage.

Riding the momentum, MSOE clinched the match in the fourth set, winning 25-20 to secure the victory in four sets.

Sophomores Tate Miller (Anthem, Ariz.) and Reid Scott (Chandler, Ariz.) each tallied 13 kills for the Falcons, with Miller posting an impressive .345 hitting percentage. Senior Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) contributed 31 assists in the match.

Defensively, junior Parker Pearson (Keller, Texas) led the team with 15 digs, while Miller added 10. Beres not only recorded two solo blocks but also assisted on one, and junior Chase Ammons (Elm Grove, Wis.) chipped in with two block assists.

The Falcons will continue their conference campaign when they travel to Dominican on March 19th.
