No. 18 North Central Escapes in Five Sets

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's volleyball team opened the home portion of the schedule against the 18th-ranked Cardinals of North Central on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals rallied with a 25-19, 32-34, 24-26, 25-17, 15-9 victory to send the Falcons to 0-2 on the young season.

The Cardinals led wire-to-wire in the first set on Saturday. CUW had seven attacking errors in the first set and eight service errors.

The second set was a back-and-forth battle with 28 ties and 12 lead changes. The Cardinals took a late 32-31 lead, but the Falcons scored the next three points and ended the set with a block from Parker Butterfass, Tate Miller and Lucas Beres.

North Central took a 14-10 lead in the third set but the Falcons tied the set at 17 with a block from Lucas Beres. The Birds ended the set with a block from Chase Ammons.

The Cardinals cruised to a 25-17 victory in the fourth set and secured the win with a 15-9 victory in the fifth set.

Reid Scott led the match with 20 kills and Logan Kebisek had 35 assists.

The Falcons look to bounce back on Tuesday against North Park.
