NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's lacrosse team continued its tour of some of the toughest teams in Midwest lacrosse. North Central improves to 3-0 on the young season with the 19-12 victory.
Senior Caleb Ruger (Grafton, Wis.) started the scoring in the first minute of the game off a pass from senior Max Esposito (Gaithersburg, Md.) after the Falcons kept the play alive on a second-chance opportunity.
Three minutes later, sophomore Bryce Peterson (Waukesha, Wis.) scored when he crashed the net off a pass from Max Esposito
After the Cardinals scored the next three goals, Max Esposito tied the game with his first goal.
Junior Preston Meier (Owatonna, Minn.) snapped an eight-goal streak for the Cardinals with a shot from eight yards out off an assist to Max Esposito to cut into the deficit before halftime.
Caleb Ruger started the CUW scoring in the third quarter.
The Falcons cut into the lead with four goals to end the third quarter. Senior Gio Nowotarski (Reading, Pa.) had two goals in the run and Max Esposito reached the 300-point mark.
Concordia closed the game with three straight goals from Gio Nowotarski and two goals from Bryce Petersen.
Freshman Nolan O'Malley (Chicago, Ill.) had 16 saves on Saturday.
Sophomore Jaxon Hill (Bismarck, N.D.) had 14 faceoff victories on the day and picked up nine ground balls.
The Falcons look to bounce back on March 12 at home against Northland in a rescheduled contest.
