Men's Hockey places eight on NCHA All-Academic Team

WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team had a good season on the ice, setting a program record with 11 wins in 2015-16. It turns out the Falcons were strong off the ice as well, placing eight players on the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team, the league office announced Thursday.

The Falcons had the fourth most players in the NCHA land on the All-Academic team. In addition, CUW had three players earn the distinction for the third time in their careers, the maximum times a player can land on the All-Academic squad.

The three seniors who were three-time selections for the Falcons were Buster Hebda (Firestone, Colo.), Lennie Childs (Silver Springs, Md.) and Trammell Lynes (Edmonton, Alberta).

In addition the Falcons had three receive the honor for their work in the classroom. The juniors were Tanner Bull (Brooklin, Ontario), Josh Herrington (Aurora, Ontario) and Adam Ritchie (Lively, Ontario). Sophomores Travis Marit (Assiniboia, Saskatchewan) and Jared Pilet (Seattle, Wash.) also landed All-Academic honors for the Falcons.

Aurora had 15 players honored, the most in the NCHA. In order to be selected All-Academic a player but be of at least sophomore status and hold a 3.3 cumulative GPA.
