Field Hockey Bested by Kenyon

Written by CUW Student Assistant Lance Schulteis

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Concordia Wisconsin field hockey team fell to the Kenyon Owls on Sunday afternoon, dropping to 2-10 on the season after the 3-1 result.

Kenyon junior Grace Lane opened the scoring just over six minutes into the contest, collecting her team-leading 12th goal of the season.

Freshman Emily Robertson (Canton, Mich.) answered for the Falcons, knotting the score at one in the game's 19th minute. The score marked her first in a Concordia uniform in her seventh career game.

Nine minutes later, the Owls responded, as Maren Lawrence cashed in on a scramble in front of the Falcons' net. Ella Haskins picked up her second assist of the game on the goal.

The 2-1 mark stood for nearly the rest of the game, despite Concordia's best attempts to re-even the score. With two-and-a-half minutes left in the game, Kenyon picked up an insurance goal to effectively shut the door on a Falcons comeback. The tally came off of the stick of none other than Grace Lane, marking her third multi-goal game of the season.

Falcons' senior goalie Halli Schniederwendt (Appleton, Wis.) collected two saves on the day.

The Falcons will look to get back in the win column on October 21 as they take on the 10-2 Rhodes Lynx.
