Women's Track & Field Closes NACC Championships

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The CUW women's track & field team finished the competition at the NACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons finished in eighth place with 52 points and won two medals on the day. St. Norbert ran away with the title at 259 points.

CUW earned the bronze medal in the 4x100 meter relay. The team of freshman Maya Hielscher (Macomb, Mich.), sophomore Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.), junior Hannah Ebel (Mount Clemens, Mich.) and junior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) finished at 50.04.

Senior Jordyn Schmidt (Manitowoc, Wis.) secured the bronze medal in the high jump at 1.51 meters.

The Falcons had four runners compete in the 5000-meter run on Saturday. Senior LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.) led the way for the Blue and White in fourth place at 18:55.60. Sophomore Anessa Yim (Spokane, Wash.) crossed the finish line at 20:08.69 in 12th place, junior MaryGrace Cleinmark (Danvers, Ill.) was 17th at 21:07.90 and junior Micah Hill (Camdenton, Mo.) was 21st at 21:36.92.

Sabrina Moore secured a fifth-place time of 12.81 in the 100-meter dash.

LaNea Bartel led the flock in the 1500-meter run in sixth place at 5:06.29. Sophomore Abigail Van Rixel (Athens, Wis.) ran a 16th-place time of 5:37.79.

The birds also finished in sixth place in the 4x400 meter relay. The squad of junior Madison Chiappetta (Lenexa, Kan.), junior Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.), sophomore Sarah Birenbaum (Cascade, Wis.) and Jenna Zahorik finished at 4:21.00.

Jenna Zahorik placed sixth in the 200-meter dash at 26.38.

In the 800-meter run, Lindsay Pluister led the way for CUW in seventh place at 2:29.99 with sophomore Naomi Gahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) in ninth place at 2:32.13.

The 100-meter hurdles saw Maya Hielscher finish ninth at 16.97.

Sabrina Moore led the flock in the long jump with a mark of 4.78 meters in 12th place.

Saturday was the final team competition for the Falcons in 2022.
