Falcons Take on Titan Challenge

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The CUW women's track team competed at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge on Saturday.
UW-Eau Claire snagged the top spot in the meet with 116 total points.
The Falcons scored nine team points which slotted them in 11th place.
The first race to go off was the women's 4x400m. The team of sophomore Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.), senior LaNea Bartel (Kewaunee, Wis.), junior MaryGrace Cleinmark (Danvers, Ill.), and junior Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.) recorded an eighth-place finish securing one team point.
Junior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) posted an 8.37 time for fourth place in the 60m. She also placed 15th in the 200m finals with a time of 26.97.
Junior Hannah Ebel (Mount Clemens, Mich.) posted a 28.41 in the 200m finals to take 42nd place. Sophomore Karly Ayotte (Francis Creek, Wis.) and junior Lauren Nemitz (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished within half of a second of each other with times of 29.45 and 29.84 respectively. Junior Madison Chiapetta (Lenexa, Kan.) finished in 60th place with a time of 30.16. Fellow junior Kaitlynn Sabish (Campbellsport, Wis.) finished 73rd with a time of 35.11.
Senior Jordyn Schmidt (Manitowoc, Wis.) was the first Falcon to cross the line in the 400m finals with a time of 1:06.49 which was good for 29th place. Moore picked up 34th place with a time of 1:06.91. Chiapetta finished just behind her with a time of 1:07.92 and took 37th place. Sabish was the last Falcon to cross the line with a time of 1:20.25.
In the 800m final, Cleinmark was the first Falcon to cross in 22nd place with a time of 2:36.10. Pluister was just behind her in 25th place with a time of 2:42.63 and freshman Kalleigh Schroeder (Bonduel, Wis.) finished just steps later with a time of 2:43.25. Sophomore Sarah Birenbaum (Cascade, Wis.) placed 35th with a time of 2:49.67 while junior Rosa Roloff (Trevor, Wis.) finished 43rd with a time of 3:10.43.
Bartel picked up six points for the Falcon team with a third-place finish in the mile run with a time of 5:17.88. Junior Micah Hill (Camdenton, Mo.) took 27th with a time of 5:57.38 while freshman Ella Stader (Oostburg, Wis.) finished with a time of 6:01.89 in 32nd place.
Ebel was the first Falcon across the line in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.14 in the first round. Juniors Sadie Silva (Plymouth, Calif.) and Alexandria Hood (Grayslake, Ill.) crossed the line neck and neck in 19th and 20th place with times of 10.62 and 10.63 respectively.
Schmidt took on the high jump and placed 11th with a jump of 1.51 meters.
Junior Paige Winterfeldt (Roseville, Minn.) was the lone Falcon to take on the pole vault. She claimed 11th place with a vault of 2.76 meters.
Sophomore Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) took on the long jump and scored two Falcon points with a jump of 5.29 meters. Silva and Moore landed 0.01 meters apart with final jumps of 4.31 and 4.30 meters respectively. Ayotte and sophomore Catherina Romine (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) also finished one place apart with 35th and 36th-place finishes at 4.19 and 4.09 meters.
Winterfeldt and Schroeder jumped the furthest for the Falcons in the triple jump with distances of 9.13 meters and 9.10 meters respectively and places of 17th and 18th. Sophomore Aubrey Theide (Slinger, Wis.) finished with a jump of 9.07 meters and snagged 20th place.
The Falcons head into Ripon next weekend for the NACC Indoor Championships.
