Women’s Track and Field Competed in the Early Brid Invitational

OSHKOSH, Wis. – The CUW women's track and field team showed their skills in the Early Bird Invite with a fifth-place finish at 43 team points.

The Titans of Oshkosh claimed first-place with 237.5 points.

Four Falcons competed in the 60-meter dash preliminaries. Junior Jenna Zahorik (Reedsville, Wis.) was first among the Falcons with a 13th-place finish with a time of 8.42. The next Falcon finished at 8.60. Sophomore Sabrina Moore (Park Ridge, Ill.) took 17th in the race. 

The last two Falcons, sophomore Karly Ayotte (Francis Creek, Wis.) and junior Lauren Nemitz (Milwaukee, Wis.), finished in 19th and 20th place with times of 8.66 and 8.79 respectively.

Three Falcons competed in the finals of the 200-meter dash. Jenna Zahorik finished in 13th-place with a time of 27.54. Junior Hannah Ebel (Mount Clemens, Mich.) finished 19th with a time of 28.12. Sabrina Moore was the final Falcon with a time of 28.73 and a 23rd-place finish.

In the 400-meter dash, junior Lindsay Pluister (Woodridge, Ill.) finished with a time of 1:06.94 in 4th-place which was good for five team points. Junior Kaitlynn Sabish (Campbellsport, Wis.) finished in ninth with a time of 1:20.93.

Sophomore Naomi Gahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) claimed one team point with an eighth-place finish at 2:38.93. 

Sophomore Sarah Birenbaum (Cascade, Wis.) finished with a time of 2:49.82 and a 12th-place finish.

Hannah Ebel qualified for the 60-meter hurdles finals with a time of 10.00. She claimed four points in the finals with a time of 10.03. 

Junior Sadie Silva (Plymouth, Calif.) finished prelims with a time of 11.69.

The team of Pluister, Moore, Gahan, Birenbaum, senior Jordyn Schmidt (Manitowoc, Wis.), and freshman Kalleigh Schroeder (Bonduel, Wis.) finished the 4X400-meter relay in fifth place with a time of 4:34.87 and claimed six team points.

Schmidt claimed eight more team points in the high jump with a second-place finish at 1.51 meters. 

Nemitz claimed two more points at seventh-place with a height of 1.41-meters. Sophomore Aubrey Thiede (Slinger, Wis.) posted a ninth-place finish at 1.36 meters while Silva recorded 1.31 for 11th.

Sophomore Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) snagged six team points with a third-place, 5.22-meter finish. 

Moore jumped 4.29 meters for 15th place and sophomore Catherine Romine (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) finished in 16th with 4.15.  

Samuta grabbed eight more points in the triple jump with a distance of 10.87 and Schroeder claimed three with 9.19 meters.

Junior Amanda Kugel (Green Bay, Wis.) competed in shot put and weight throw with distances of 7.90 meters and 7.65 meters respectively.

The Falcons move on to compete in the Carthage Opener in January.
