Women's Tennis Topples Stevens Point

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons stopped the skid on Saturday with an 8-1 victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point to improve to 10-10 on the year.

The team of senior Mia Andrae (Cedarburg, Wis.) and freshman Cheyanne Phillips (Morris, Ill.) made quick work of the Pointers at No. 2 doubles with an 8-3 victory.

Senior Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and sophomore Ashley Samuta (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) popped the Pointers at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.

Sophomore Jennifer Mies (Brookfield, Wis.) and senior Elizabeth Johnson (Hubertus, Wis.) rallied to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-6.

Ricki Budewitz bounced Faith Leithold, at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-6.

Ashley Samuta smashed Barbara Covek at No. 2 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Mallory Moen mowed down Chloe Leithold at No. 4 singles, 3-6, 6-0, 10-8.

Mia Andrae defeated Kaylee Woelful at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 2-6, 10-7.

Freshman Maya Kunze (Stevens Point, Wis.) quieted Jordan Scharf at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-4.

The Falcons fly west to Iowa to take on Luther and Wisconsin-La Crosse on Sunday.
