Women's Tennis picked to defend NACC title

Concordia Wisconsin's Women's Tennis program has been selected to repeat as champions in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, according to the league's preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches and athletic communicators.

The Falcons earned 19 of the 20 first-place votes and 199 points in the poll. Last season, CUW went a perfect 9-0 in league play (16-11 overall) and earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament by virtue of winning the NACC Tournament title.

Edgewood was second in the poll with the remaining first-place nod and 199 points, while Marian University was third with 142 points and Alverno College fourth with 133 points.

The Falcons start their season in non-conference play, as they host Carroll at 4 pm on Friday, September 1 before starting NACC play on Wednesday, September 6 vs Lakeland. The fall season will feature the full 10-match conference schedule for CUW, as well as a two-day trip to Saint Peter, Minn., for the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional from Sept. 22-23.

The NACC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the six-team conference tournament in the spring, while the tourney champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
