Falcons swoop down on Alverno

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – It was all CUW on Saturday, when the Falcons extinguished the Inferno, 12-0. The Blue and White improve to 6-0-0 in the NACC with the victory.

The Falcons flame-roasted the Alverno net with six goals in each half.

Sophomore Karoline Haugland (Bergen, Norway) opened the feast in the 14th minute.

Eight minutes later, senior Allison McElwee (Laramie, Wyo.) joined in on the fun with a pass from junior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.).

Karoline Haugland found the back of the net again in the 28th minute off an assist to Allison McElwee.

Freshman Sage McDaniel (Mesa, Ariz.) continue the on slot with a goal in the 37th minute with assists to freshman Madelaine Specht (Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) and Karoline Haugland.

Madelaine Specht secured her second goal of the year off a pass from Karoline Haugland.

Karoline Haugland earned the hat trick with a goal in the 44th minute, with Downs claiming her second assist of the afternoon.

CUW held a 35-2 advantage in the first half with shots. Senior Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) secured two saves in the tart.

The feast continued in the second half, with Allison McElwee gobbling up two quick goals.

The scoring seemed so fun, that Alverno joined in on the action, finding the back of their own net in the 62nd minute.

Sophomore Kailey Lewis (Eagle, Idaho) scored the next two goals for the Falcons, the first of the year for Lewis.

Madeleine Specht struck again in the 80th minute off assists to sophomore Morgan Bolz (Wausau, Wis.) and sophomore Grace Wilshire (Pittsburgh, Pa.). The assists were the first point in both of their careers at CUW.

Sophomore Naomi Gruben (Sheboygan, Wis.) kept the Inferno out of the Concordia net with one save in the second half.

CUW drew 16 corner kicks in the victory and dropped 51 shots on Alverno.

CUW can secure a home match in the NACC Semifinals with a win at Edgewood on Wednesday.
