Women’s Soccer slays the Warriors

MEQUON, Wis. - It was bright and sunny on Fitting Field as Concordia was able to shine against Wisconsin Lutheran and defend the nest with a 3-1 victory.

The two teams kept the first half close with a tie at one heading into halftime.

The Warriors were no match for sophomore Selena Esten (Cedarburg, Wis.) as she was able to put the first point on the board in the 19th minute of the first half. The goal was assisted by junior Isabel Downs (Menomonee Falls, Wis.).

The Warriors' Katie Wasiak was able to tie the game at one in the 28th minute.

The second goal came at the 52nd minute of the game with an unassisted shot from Esten.

Freshman Sage McDaniel (Mesa, Ariz.) would have a ball too with a goal in the 54th minute of the game. That goal would be assisted by sophomore Bria Wachowiak (Owatonna, Minn.) and Downs.

Senior goalkeeper Kaeley Sterkel (Dana Point, Calif.) would see four shots come her way, with three saves in the entire game.

The Blue and White tallied 29 shots to Wisconsin Lutheran's six for the game.

Esten was the queen of shots on goal today for the Falcons with a total of six.

Women's Soccer looks to sweep Marian in their second match-up on Friday, April 9 at 5 PM in Fond Du Lac.
