Women's Lacrosse Mangles Marian

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team won its fifth-straight contest on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons moved to 6-6 on the year and remained unbeaten in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference at 3-0 with a 12-8 victory at Marian.

Freshman Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) started the scoring with a spicy shot off a pass from junior Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.).

The Black and Blue tied the game three minutes later.

The freshman from New Jersey scored her second goal of the day 37 seconds later on a free-position shot.

Freshman Ella Maltby (Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.) closed the first-quarter scoring with 3:43 left with the Falcons down a player.

The Sabres scored the only goal of the second quarter on a free position shot to send the Falcons into halftime leading, 3-2.

The Black and Blue took the lead for the first time on Tuesday with a pair of goals.

Ella Maltby tied the game 30 seconds later on a free position shot.

After Marian reclaimed the lead, the Birds responded with goals from junior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) and Katelyn Cardinale over a 28-second span to reclaim the lead.

The Sabres snuck the ball in the back of the net with 2:01 left in the third frame, but that would mark the final time that the Cats would tie the game.

A free position shot from Katelyn Cardinale gave the Falcons the lead with 59 seconds left and 38 seconds later Eliana Fuchs fooled the Marian keeper to take an 8-6 lead into the fourth quarter.

Junior Oliva Niego (La Grange, Ill.) started the fourth-quarter scoring with a laser into the net.

The Falcons took advantage of Marian's penalties with goals from Eliana Fuchs and Katelyn Cardinale.

The Final Falcons' goal came from Katelyn Cardinale off a feed from Fuchs.

Katelyn Cardinale mauled Marian with a career-high six goals. She also picked up three ground balls.

Eliana Fuchs finished with three goals on four shots, an assist, a game-high six draw controls and a ground ball.

Sophomore Sydney Dyba (Crown Point, Ind.) and freshman Juliana Beadle (Franklin, Wis.) both gobbled up five ground balls to lead the flock. Sydney Dyba posted 17 saves on 25 shots in the victory.

The Falcons hit the road again on Saturday when they travel to Concordia Chicago.
