Women's Lacrosse Finishes Homestand Undefeated

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's lacrosse team closed its first homestand of the season with a perfect 4-0 record. The Falcons edged the Eagles of Edgewood with a 15-7 victory to improve to 2-0 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference at 5-6 on the year.

Freshman Katelyn Cardinale (Mount Laurel, N.J.) scored on a breakaway off a pass from sophomore Kami McCardle (Jackson, Wis.).

The Eagles tied the game on a free position shot.

Junior Eliana Fuchs (Brookfield, Wis.) then responded with a free position goal of her own.

Sophomore Natalie Mackrell (Stuttgart, Germany) picked up a rebound and moved in front of the net to score.

Junior Olivia Niego (La Grange, Ill.) blasted the ball into the back of the net with 1:02 left in the first quarter.

Edgewood struck again on a free-position shot

Kami McCardle started the third quarter scoring off an assist to sophomore Ava Karlov (Naperville, Ill.)

Katelyn Cardinale then scored on a free-position shot.

Freshman Ella Maltby (Grosse Point Shores, Mich.) joined the scoring on a free-position shot

Olivia Niego crashed the net to score her second goal of the day.

Cardinale taped in a rebound off a junior Savannah Schweiger (Eagle, Wis.) free-position shot

Niego closed the scoring in the third frame with a goal in the final seconds of the third quarter

Katelyn Cardinale started the scoring in the first minute of the fourth quarter on a free-position shot.

Edgewood cut into the CUW lead with the next three goals.

A sharp-angled shot for Eliana Fuchs ended the skid, she then closed the CUW scoring 58 seconds later, while the Falcons were down a player.

Sophomore Sydney Dyba (Crown Point, Ind.) secured 16 saves in the victory.

Eliana Fuchs led the CUW attack with four goals and an assist.

CUW collected 30 ground balls, with Olivia Niego leading the way with six.

Sophomore Brenna Bieniek (Shakopee, Minn.) finished with a game-high five draw controls.

Eliana Fuchs and Natalie Mackrell both caused three turnovers.

The Falcons return to action on Tuesday at Marian.
