Women's Golf retains lead at NACC Championship

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. – Nina Puch increased her individual lead and Concordia University Wisconsin remained atop the leaderboard during a cold and blustery second round of the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship at Trappers Turn Golf Club.

Puch (junior, Des Plaines, Ill.) enlarged her lead to seven strokes after firing a second round-best 83, which included eight pars. Puch is just one of three players to card back-to-back rounds in the 80s during the tournament. The Falcons advantage was trimmed from 11 strokes down to five strokes after Aurora University made a charge at the back-to-back defending NACC Champions.

CUW fired a team score of 376 on Sunday and has a two-day total of 735 (359-376), while Aurora has a 740 total (376-364). The Spartans led the NACC during the regular season in scoring average.

Junior Lexi Westphal (Brownsville, Wis.) was the only Falcon to improve on Sunday, as she was one shot better with a 93, which included four pars, to move into a tie for 10th place with a two-day total of 185 (93-92).

Sophomore Bridget Slater (Roseau, Minn.) slipped nine spots on the leaderboard into 14th after signing for a 100 to give her a two-day total of 191 (91-100). Freshman Haley Olkiewicz (Oshkosh, Wis.) is in a tie for 16th after firing a 101 for a two-round score of 194 (93-101). Sophomore Megan Reddersdorf (Marengo, Ill.) shot a 102 and has a 200 total (92-102), which is good for a 24th place tie.

Puch leads all players in scoring average on par 3s, par 4s and par 5s. Slater, Olkiewicz and Westphal each have eight pars after 36 holes of play. Reddersdorf has sunk seven pars after two days of play.

CUW enters Monday's final round of the NACC Championship looking to win its fifth title in the past six seasons and to become the second program in conference history to win three-consecutive titles.
