Puch wins medalist honors, Women's Golf wins Alverno Triangular

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – Nina Puch claimed medalist honors for the second-consecutive event and Concordia University Wisconsin won the Alverno College Triangular on Saturday at Currie Park Golf Course.

The scoreboard replicated the previous event the Falcons played in two days prior, with a team victory and medalist honors. This event they shot a 361 team score at the par-71, 5,828-yard course, which is the lowest round of the season by 13 strokes.

Puch (junior, Des Plaines, Ill.) carded a season-low 9-over-par 80 to win medalist honors by 12 strokes over teammate Madeline Poll (freshman, Alto, Mich.) who had a 92, which was a career low. Sophomore Bridget Slater (Roseau, Minn.) tied for third after firing a 94.

Host Alverno carded a 501 team total, while Lakeland College shot a 394 team score.

Freshman Haley Olkiewicz (Oshkosh, Wis.) finished with a 95 to take fifth place, while freshman Amanda Gorshe (Appleton, Wis.) competed as an individual and tied for seventh with a 99. Junior Lexi Westphal (Brownsville, Wis.) rounded out the lineup with a 101 total.

CUW returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 4 for the three-day Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championship at Trappers Turn Golf Club. The Falcons have won the tournament the past two seasons.
