Puch ties for sixth at Pilot Spring Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Nina Puch tied for sixth place after improving by a stroke during the two-day Pilot Spring Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Course. The Falcons finished with eighth place as a team.

Puch (sophomore, Des Plaines, Ill.) fired an opening round 82 prior to carding a 9-over-par 81 to move into a tie for sixth place. She was tied for eighth after Friday's first round. It was the first event of the spring season for the Falcons.

CUW shot a two-day total of 800 (405-395) to finish in eighth place. They were one of five teams to improve during the second round.

Bethel College (Indiana), who hosted the event, won the Invitational by a large margin of 44 strokes after shooting a 613 total (304-309). Olivet Nazarene University was second with 657 total (326-331).

Geandra Almeida and Erin Devries tied for medalist honors with a 2-over-par 146 total.

Sophomore Madalyn Joannes (Wauwatosa, Wis.) ended in 33rd place with a 209 total (103-106), while sophomore Lexi Westphal (Brownsville, Wis.) tied for 35th place with a 214 total (106-108). Also tying for 35th was freshman Bridget Slater (Roseau, Minn.), who improved 14 strokes from the first to second rounds.
