Puch tied for 16th, Women's Golf competes at Tournament on the Border

BRISTOL, Wis. – Nina Puch led Concordia University Wisconsin's Women's Golf team at a difficult Tournament on the Border, hosted by Carthage College, with a tie for 16th place. The Falcons finished in 12th place as a team at the 5,836-yard, par-72 Bristol Oaks Country Club.

Puch (Des Plaines, Ill.) carded an 18-over-par 126 total to lead CUW. She finished with a 41-85 after the tournament was shortened to 27 holes because of inclement weather during the opening 18 holes. It was the fifth top-20 finish in the righty's career with as many holes our more for a tournament.

Host Carthage College won the team trophy with a 474 total (42-over-par), while UW-Whitewater was second with a 476 total. Olivet Nazarene University – ranked No. 22 at the end of the 2012-13 World Golf/WGCA rankings – took third with a 491 total.

McKenzie Parks (Carthage College) claimed individual medalist honors with a 7-over-par 115 total to edge Sammie Leibham (UW-Whitewater) and Sarah Bregant (UW-Whitewater) who had a 116 and 117 cumulative total, respectively.

Freshman Megan Reddersdorf (Marengo, Ill.) tied for 64th with a 146 total (51-95). Sophomore Lexi Westphal (Brownsville, Wis.) took 69th after shooting a 149 total (49-100). Sophomore Madalyn Joannes (Wauwatosa, Wis.) shot a 153 (52-101) to place 77th, while freshman Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) tied for 80th with a 159 total (55-104).

CUW returns to the links on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when its hosts the Falcon Invitational at the River Club.
