Landgraf's career game leads Women's Basketball past Lakeland

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Madelyn Landgraf scored a career-high 22 points on Tuesday night to lead Concordia University Wisconsin past Lakeland College, 69-56, in an important Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game.

Landgraf (junior, Elkhart Lake, Wis.) drained four 3-pointers and also pulled down a career-best eight rebounds to get the Falcons back in the win column and defeat the Muskies for the fifth-consecutive time. CUW took the lead for good with a Landgraf long ball less than three minutes into the game and held a double-digit advantage the entire second half.

"We controlled the rebounds tonight and played CUW defense, which I am really satistfied with," head coach Stacey Brunner-Jones said. "I am happy with how Maddie played and how Brianna stepped up off the bench. I am most pleased with Sammi's performance and how she is becoming a leader for us and a lock-down defender."

The Falcons shot 36.8 percent from the field, but capitalized on 24 offensive rebounds, which resulted in 25 second chance points. They also finished with a 23-14 advantage in bench production, thanks in large part to freshman Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) who had a career game with 12 points and 10 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action off the bench.

Sophomore Sammi Blissett (Springfield, Ill.) also played well in the rivalry contest with a career-high five rebounds and six assists in a near complete game performance (38 minutes). Junior Megan Coenen (Green Bay, Wis.) netted 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.

CUW's defense limited LC to 34.9 percent from the field and two players in double-figures. A statistical advantage for the Falcons, were their 54-36 rebounding advantage and 15-of-19 free throws compared to the Muskies 5-of-11 free throws.

Bailey Grayvold led LC with 13 points, while Trista Barron scored 12 points. Kayla Clark recorded nine points, six rebounds and four assists for the Muskies (2-4, 2-2 NACC).

CUW tallied 26 of its first half points in the paint to take a 37-29 advantage in the locker room. They also received 15 points from their bench and had 14 offensive rebounds. Brunner-Jones played 12 players in the second half, as the Falcons cruised with their double-figure lead. It was the fourth time this season they have held an opponent to 60 points or less.

CUW (5-2, 3-2 NACC) returns to the court Saturday for a 7 p.m. NACC matchup with Alverno College.
