Falcons Clinch Tournament Berth with Victory at St. Norbert

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's volleyball team traveled to De Pere, Wisconsin to take on the St. Norbert Green nights in their final, away NACC contest of the regular season.

The Blue and White jumped out to a quick 1-0 set lead after a 25-16 victory in the first frame of the contest. The Falcons went on a seven-point run early in the first set with a trio of kills from senior James Althoff (Kenosha, Wis.) to put them ahead 9-4. The birds ended the set with another big run-scoring five points to the Green Knights two with a kill from both Althoff and sophomore Spencer Herman (Appleton, Wis.)

The Falcons jumped out to a quick15-8 lead in the second set that was capped off with a kill from junior Andy Ellingham (Burlington, Wis.) with an assist from freshman Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.). The flock held strong with a final score of 25-14 to push their set lead to 2-0.

St. Norbert snuck a win in set three with a 20-25 final score to pull within one set of the Falcons and cut their deficit.

The Blue and White ended the match in the fourth set with a score of 25-22 to take the 3-1 victory and clinch a place in the NACC tournament starting on Tuesday.

Althoff led the Falcons with 19 kills on 43 swings taking home a .349 hitting percentage. He added 14 digs for a double-double. Herman led all players with 16 digs giving him a double-double as well with 12 kills to match.

Kebisek dished out 40 assists on the night as well as a solo block and three assist blocks.

Ellingham led the birds with six block assists.

The Falcons turn their focus to a senior night matchup with Benedictine to close the regular season on Saturday.
