Falcons Fall to Engineers

CAMBRIDGE, Ma. – The Falcons took on the MIT Engineers in their third of four matchups out East for Spring Break.

The Engineers came out quick with a 25-16 win in set one to put the Falcons in the hole.

The Falcons battled neck and neck with MIT to start the second set with a kill from senior James Althoff (Kenosha, Wis.) at the 9-11 mark. MIT went on a 4-1 run in the middle of the set to push their lead to five points at 15-10. Althoff came out of the timeout with a kill to end their momentum and pull back within four. The Engineers fought off the Falcon offense and took the second set 25-22.

MIT pushed out to a 6-1 lead early, but the Falcons fought back to within three at 13-16 with a block and a kill from Althoff. Sophomore Spencer Herman (Appleton, Wis.) cut the deficit to two with a kill late at 18-20. The Engineers finished on a 5-4 run to take the match sweep at 25-22.

Herman led the Falcon offense with 11.5 total points on 11 kills and an assist block.

Freshman Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) dished out 26 assists and added seven digs.

The Falcons finish their week at Endicott on Saturday.
