Falcons Bounce the Big Blue

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons defended home court on Friday night with a 3-0 victory. The Blue and White took down Millikin with a 25-12, 26-24, 25-9 to improve to 2-3 on the year.

The serve of senior Turner Fuhrer (Kenosha, Wis.) gave the Falcons an early 4-0 lead in the first set and CUW never looked back. The Falcons pushed the lead up to 13 points on multiple occasions and a kill from freshman Lucas Beres (Germantown, Wis.) clinched the set at 25-12. Sophomore Spencer Herman (Appleton, Wis.) hit .750 in the set with three kills.

After hitting -.160 in the first set, the Big Blue flipped the script and hit .227 in the second set. Millikin took an early lead in the second set and claimed the lead for a majority of the set. The Falcons continued to hang around and tied the set at 12, 13, and 14 before a service ace from senior James Althoff (Kenosha, Wis.) pushed the lead to 16-14. Millikin stormed back and had a set point at 24-23. After three Millikin errors, a kill from senior Cody Sciabica (Henderson, Nev.) put the Falcons up 26-24 to claim the second set. Spencer Herman secured 10 kills on 13 attacks in the set.

CUW jumped on Millikin early in the third set with the serve of Turner Fuhrer and never looked back. Concordia cruised to an easy 25-9 victory to clinch the match. James Althoff and Spencer Herman both notched five kills in the set.

Spencer Herman led the match with 18 kills in the victory and hit .680 with five digs and three blocks.  His hitting percentage broke the CUW program record, that he held, for a single match that was set back in 2021 at Rockford.

James Althoff added 11 kills, one service ace, and two digs.

Freshman Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) loaded the CUW offense with 34 assists. He and Turner Fuhrer both led the match with seven digs.

Lucas Beres was a part of four of the seven CUW blocks.

Concordia continues its tour of the CCIW on Wednesday at home against Carthage.
