Falcons Shatter Record Book in Loss

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's volleyball team fell short in a four-set match on Wednesday night against the Sabres of Marian. The Sabres secured a spot in the NACC Tournament with a 17-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-19 victory to improve to 21-6 and 7-2 in the NACC. The Falcons fall to 10-10 and 6-4 in the NACC.

The Falcons took an early lead in the first set behind the serve of senior Turner Fuhrer (Kenosha, Wis.) at 4-0. CUW ballooned the lead to 15-7 and took the set 25-17.

Leading the second set 12-11, the Sabres broke open the set with a 7-2 run. The Black and Blue closed the set on a 5-1 run.

The birds put up a fight in the final two sets, but fell 25-19 in the third and fourth sets.

Sophomore Spencer Herman (Appleton, Wis.) shattered the school record of kills in a match with 33. The previous record had been 25 and the four-set record was 19. He also broke the school record with 33.5 points, 18 digs in a four-set match.

Freshman Logan Kebisek (Brookfield, Wis.) also broke the school record with 49 assists.

The Blue and White broke the school record with 58 kills.

The Falcons look to bounce back on Friday at St. Norbert.
