CUW mourns the loss of former golf coach Ray Engelking

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin Athletics mourns the loss of former golf coach Ray Engelking.

"It was terribly sad when we heard of the passing of Ray Engelking," said Director of Athletics Dr. Rob Barnhill. "Ray was a dedicated and loyal member of our staff serving as the golf coach. In that capacity, Ray served many student-athletes and fulfilled his duties with courtesy, professionalism, and kindness. Ray was a well-known and liked member of the local golf community and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his surviving family."

Engelking passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the age of 72.

Coach Engelking was hired as the head coach of the CUW golf program in the summer of 2007. A position he held until December of 2012.

During his time at CUW, he coached 35 student-athletes in the men's golf program. He had 13 golfers receive NACC Scholar-Athlete Award honors during his time at Concordia.  

He also taught economics at West Bend West High School for 35 years, where he retired in 2015.

Ray Engelking was married to his wife Deborah. The two of them had three sons and three granddaughters.
