Men’s Golf Takes MSOE Invitational Title

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. – The CUW men's golf team closed the fall season with a victory at the MSOE Invitational on Monday. The Falcons finished the 36-hole competition with 630 strokes, 23 strokes ahead of second-place MSOE and 23 strokes ahead of Bryant and Stratton in third place.

Senior Dylan Karvala (New Berlin, Wis.) claimed the medalist honor on Monday in first place with 154 strokes. Karvala opened the day with three birdies in the first seven holes and finished with four in the first round. He then opened the second round with back-to-back birdies. Monday was the second medalist honor for Karvala on the year.

In third place was senior Wyatt Wilderman (Waukesha, Wis.) with 156 strokes. Wilderman was one over par in the first round and notched a birdie on the 11th hole. In the second round, he finished with birdies on the second and sixth holes.

At 162 strokes was senior Nate Benjamin (Tucson, Ariz.) in seventh place. Benjamin landed birdies on the second and sixth holes in the first round. The Arizona native finished strong with two birdies on the back nine of the second round.

Freshman Nick Klemm (Sussex, Wis.) recorded a 36-hole total of 164 strokes to finish in ninth place. In the first 18 holes, Klemm sank a birdie on hole No. 15. In the final 18 holes, he landed a birdie on the 15th hole. Also in ninth place was junior Jordan Carlton (Kewaskum, Wis.) ended with 164 strokes. He started the tournament with a birdie on the second hole. He then added birdies on the second and sixth holes in the second round.

Finishing in a tie for 12th place was sophomore Brandon Picard (Montreal, Que.) at 168 strokes. On the fourth hole, Picard landed a birdie on the par-three hole. In the second round, he secured back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth holes.

Sophomore Carsten Zange (Robins, Iowa) secured a two-round score of 172 strokes in 19th place. The Iowa native highlighted the day with an eagle on the second hole.

Senior Cody Faber (Wilmot, Wis.) finished tied for 21st place at 176 strokes. Faber finished the 11th hole with a birdie. During the final round, he landed birdies on the second and 17th holes.

Sophomore Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) shot 191 strokes on Monday to end in 29th place. He highlighted the day with an eagle on the 10th hole of the second round.

Freshman Casey Mindt (Beaver Dam, Wis.) competed in the first 18 holes and finished at 96 strokes.

Monday was the last scheduled event for the fall season.
