Men's Golf fires program-record 299 at Carthage Meet

WEST DUNDEE, Ill. – Friday's round was a record-setting one for the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Golf team as the Falcons posted a team score of 299, the first sub-300 round in program history. CUW followed that up with a 317 Saturday, finishing 18th at the Carthage Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament.

THE BASICS
- Course: Randall Oaks Golf Club (Par 71, 6599 yards)
- Team Leaderboard: Falcons 18th of 24 (616 strokes over two rounds)
- Falcons Leaderboard: Sam Schlosser – 149 (74-75); Jacob Tenlen – 155 (73-82); Jake Lipski – 157 (80-77); Bill Jones – 159 (76-83); Mike Loftus – 163 (76-87)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CUW had four players shoot rounds of 76 or better on the opening day, including sophomore Jacob Tenlen (Montreal, Wis.), who posted a career-best 73.

- Schlosser (West Bend, Wis.) was zoned in both days, firing a 74 on Friday before following that up with a 79. He finished with a +7 149 over the two days, tying for 21st in the 124-player field.

- Jones (New Holstein, Wis.) and Loftus (Germantown, Wis.) each posted scores of 76 on Friday. Jones would follow that up with an 83, while Loftus carded an 87 on Saturday.

- Lipski (New Berlin, Wis.) had the better of his two rounds on Saturday, recording a 77. He fired an 80 in the opening round for the Falcons.

THE TOURNAMENT
- Carthage won its own tournament with a score of 582, carding team rounds of 283 and 299. Illinois Wesleyan was second at 587 total strokes.

- Conner O'Neill of Illinois Wesleyan won meet medalist honors with a two-day score of 139, three under par. He opened the tournament with a three under 68 on Friday before carding an even par 71 Saturday.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will take part in the St. Norbert Invitational today. The tournament will take place at Royal St. Patricks Golf Course in Wrightstown, Wis.
