Lakeland Swims Away with the Cheese Bowl

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Falcons had their four-game win streak come to an end on Saturday night at Lakeland. The Muskies retained the Cheese Bowl with a 49-32 victory to send the Falcons to 6-2 and 4-2 in the NACC.

The Muskies struck first on a two-play drive that covered 51 yards.

The Falcons fought back with a one-yard rush from Pierre Summers III (Columbus, Ga.).

The Blue and White took the lead with a 23-yard pass from senior James Linn (Chino Hills, Calif.) to junior Christian Booker (Chicago, Ill.).

The Falcons ended the first quarter with a fumble recovery on a botched punt the was recovered by sophomore Nasir Briggs (Milwaukee, Wis.) and returned two yards for a touchdown to give the Falcons a 20-7 lead after 15 minutes.

Lakeland opened the second quarter with a touchdown to cut into the lead.

CUW responded with a 25-yard pass from Linn to Samual Campbell Jr. to push the lead to 26-14.

The Muskies closed the quarter on a 21-0 run, including two touchdowns in the final minute of the half to take a 35-26 lead into halftime.

Defense was the name of the game in the third quarter with the Falcons and Muskies combining for four turnovers. Senior Gabe Christianson (Kewaskum, Wis.) came up with an interception and senior Brogan Howard (Prineville, Ore.) recovered a fumble in the third quarter.

The Muskies added two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Senior Tim Houlihan (Lockport, Ill.) caught a 17-yard pass from sophomore Michael Purkey (Woodstock, Ill.) to close the scoring.

James Linn threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday. Tim Houlihan led the flock with 105 yards through the air.

The Falcons will take a break and will travel to Wisconsin Lutheran for the Luther Cup showdown on Nov. 6.
