The Falcons captured their second-consecutive MWLC title last year with a perfect 9-0 record in conference play (15-3 overall) and won the league's tournament title for the second straight season. CUW received 10 of the 12 first-place votes and 120 total points in the preseason poll.

Illinois Institute of Technology was second with 109 points and a top vote while Aurora was tabbed third with 100 points and the final first-place vote. Augsburg was fourth with 85 points, Hamline was fifth with 82 and Benedictine was sixth with 72.
