Esports Claims a Regional Title

MEQUON, Wis. - This past weekend, the Concordia University Wisconsin Esports teams had an impressive showing at the highly competitive regional tournament held at Lakeland. With four CUW teams competing across multiple titles, both the varsity and junior varsity Valorant teams won regional titles in their respective brackets.

The Rocket League varsity team kicked off the tournament with a dominant 4-1 win over Marian University. However, their journey hit a setback in the next round when they faced a formidable NTC squad. Despite a valiant effort, Concordia fell 1-4, wrapping up their regional campaign with a solid second-place finish in their group.

The Rocket League junior varsity team also had a strong tournament showing, but their championship hopes were dashed in the grand finals, where they were defeated 0-4 by WLC and completed their runner-up finish.

The Valorant varsity team was stellar, commandingly capturing the Regional Championship. The squad opened their tournament run with an outstanding 2-0 victory against NTC, losing just two rounds across both maps. They followed up with a nearly flawless performance, sweeping NTC 3-0 in the finals, giving up only eight rounds total across three maps.

Head coach Jack Slater was impressed with the team's focus. "Varsity put on an absolute show. They came focused and determined, and it showed. They completely dominated the competition, losing only ten rounds across five matches. That's an unheard-of statistic," Slater said.

Not to be outdone, the Valorant junior varsity team also captured the Regional Championship in their bracket, defeating Marian 2-1 in a thrilling series. Varsity captain and JV head coach Luke Bigalk, shared his excitement after the victory, saying, "This was the best I've ever seen them play, both individually and as a team. They absolutely exceeded my expectations, and I'm excited to see where they can go from here."

Across the board, Concordia University Wisconsin's Esports teams put on an impressive display at the regional tournament. With valorant Varsity and Valorant junior varsity both bringing home championship titles and Rocket League squads showing great potential, the Falcons are poised for continued success in the Esports arena.

As the season continues, the future looks bright for the Concordia Esports program, with this weekend serving as a launchpad for even greater accomplishments in the months to come.
