Baseball scores nine in game two to split series with Grove City

AUBERNDALE, Fla. – The Concordia Wisconsin Falcons' bats came alive in game two of their doubleheader today to get their first win of the season against the Grove City Wolverines.

THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game one went poorly for the Falcons as they were shutout 4-0 by the Wolverine pitchers.
- Sam Zarling (West Bend, Wis.) led the Falcons with two hits in game one while Bradlee Sumner (Ocala, Fla.) struck out six in his five innings pitched.
- In game two, the bats woke up to score nine runs and power the Falcons to a 9-4 win.
- The Falcons struck quickly, scoring three runs in the first. Grove City responded with two in the second to cut the Falcon lead to 3-2.
- The Wolverines later tied it at 3-3 in the top of the fourth, but the Falcons answered with a four-run bottom half of the inning to retake the lead 7-3.
- CUW added two more insurance runs in the sixth, and the Falcon pitchers did their job in the seventh to close out the win.
- Zarling had a pair of doubles for the Falcons as he and Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.) each went 4-for-4 at the plate.
- Blake Breon (Geneva, Ill.) struck out three in his start.
