Falcons shine in the season opener

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Falcons soared in the season opener on Sunday morning with a 236.760 – 149.875 victory.

The 236.760 points are the most in a season-opening competition for CUW since the Falcons scored 246.305 points against Oregon in 2016.

The Falcons scored 30.90 points in the compulsory event. CUW scored 9.50 points in the pyramid heat and 9.30 points in the toss heat.

The Blue and White added to the lead in the acro event with 26.20 points. The acro event was highlighted with a score of 9.00 points in the five-element heat with the team of freshman Dakoda Spaeth (West Bend, Wis.), junior Nicki Jack (Orange, Calif.), junior Corinne Chambers-Boucher (Round Lake, Ill.).

The Tigers cut into the Concordia lead in the pyramid event, where CUW finished with 24.95 points.

The Falcons edged out Georgetown in the toss event with 25.35 points.

CUW added to the lead with 47.100 points in the tumbling event. Freshman April Johnston (Spokane, Wash.) scored 9.225 points in the open pass. Sophomore Jessi Alexander (Plainfield, Ill.) added 8.175 points in the six-element pass.

The Blue and White ended the day with 82.26 points in the team event.
