CONCORDIA WISCONSIN FALCON NOTES

• THANK YOU, SENIORS: Today is the final game for the CUW senior class. The class will be honored prior to the game. CUW Athletics would like to thank these seniors for all of the hard work and dedication that they have put in on the field, classroom, weight room and the community over the past few years.

• BALL HAWKS FALCONS: The Falcons rank 10th in NCAA Division III with 16 interceptions on the season. Josiah McDermit leads the flock with five interceptions on the season.

• FIFTY NIFTY: Greg Etter returns for his 14th season as the head coach of the Concordia Wisconsin program. Heading into the game, Etter has posted a record of 51-40 in NACC games and has one title and five second-place finishes to his name. He was named the 2013 NACC Coach of the Year. In addition to that honor, Etter was also named the Wisconsin Private College Coach of the Year in 2013. His CUW teams have produced 147 All-NACC selections, two All-Region players and one All-American.

• THE SERIES: Today will be the 25th meeting all-time between the Falcons and Spartans. The series is tied with both teams winning 12 games.

• FIRST TIME OUT: Last weekend, Michael Purkey made his first start at quarterback for the Falcons. He threw for 298 yards on 24 catches and two touchdowns.

• WINNING RECORD: Regardless of today's outcome, the Falcons will finish with a winning record. CUW has finished with a .500 or better record the last four years.

AURORA SPARTANS NOTES

• NATIONAL HONORS: On Tuesday, the Aurora offensive line was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. The weekly recognition is the second time in the 2021 season that the offensive line has received this honor. The offensive line of Chris Toth, Jackson Nazos, Oscar Nava, Jalen Cole and Matt Kickel, paved the way for 329 yards on the ground as Aurora defeated Lakeland 38-20.

• SPARTANS CELEBRATING: With the victory at Lakeland, the Spartans secured the NCAA Automatic Qualifier bid for the NACC and at least a share of the NACC title. The Black and Blue are a game ahead of Benedictine, which they defeated, 63-41.

• FLYING HIGH: The Spartans are soaring through the air with Gavin Zimbelman. Zimbelman leads the NACC with 35 touchdowns and has 2354 yards on the season, averaging 261.6 yards per game.

• SPARTANS ON A STREAK: After starting the season with 33-39 and 7-64 losses, the Spartans have won their last seven games. Aurora has had five seven-game winning streaks since 1993. If Aurora wins today, it will be the longest winning streak for the Spartans since they started the 1992 season with nine victories.

• LEADING THE DEFENSE: The Spartans are led on defense by Ernesto Ramirez with 46 total tackles. Sean Reyna leads Aurora with six interceptions.

• THE AURORA COACH: Aurora is led by head coach Don Beebe. Beebe has a record of 19-4 in three seasons at Aurora. Beebe was the first NFL player to take the field in six Super Bowls -- four with the Buffalo Bills and two with the Green Bay Packers.
